The first institution of its kind in the world and an important legacy of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
RMOU – the Russian International Olympic University in Sochi is the first institution of its kind worldwide. The facility is designed for training specialists in sports management for the Russian and international sports industry, including the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
The concept and master plan of the campus were developed by prominent Russian designers: architect Vladimir Korotayev – GRADO, architect Vladimir Plotkin – RESERVE, the Research Institute of Transport Construction (CNIIS), as well as the British firm PRP Architects. The development of project documentation was entrusted to the general contractor, Putevi AD Užice.

The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) is the first Russian higher education institution focused on sports business education. During the construction period, the campus was certified according to the international BREEAM environmental standard*, receiving the highest rating.
The project authors developed a construction waste management system. During construction, separate collection and disposal of waste were planned, as well as recycling, including on the construction site. As Gleb Vatletsov, head of the Environmental Support Department of the Olimpstroy Group of Companies, said: “This is the first Olympic facility whose quality has received international recognition.”
